Project partners and stakeholders from the Rostock are gathered the 11-12th December to try out and analyse the current public transport in and between the regions of Rostock and Guldborgsund. The Swedish delegation jumped on a morning train in Karlskrona and arrived at Nyköping Falster by lunchtime. We then listened to the recent mobility projects in Guldborgsund and discussed about sustainable solutions for these. We then took the bus to Gedser, listened to how Scandlines was involved in re-building the ferry terminal and entered the diesel-electric hybrid ferry “Berlin”, where we listened to how Scandlines build their new hybrid ships and discussed how they could contribute further to sustainable mobility in the region. In Rostock, we went by bus and tram to the city center (that was full of snow), and learned the next day about how we can online (or at terminals) purchase one Inter-combi ticket for the whole trip from the city center of Rostock to Nyköping Falster, and discussed further improvements of public transport and project development issues.
The whole trip was conducted by public transport, and went smoothly with a slight delay, but it was not obvious how and when to book tickets, so there are room for improvements to get more foot passengers onboard Karlskrona-Rostock.
More information about the project and the study trip can be found at the INTERCONNECT website.
