Our department Computer science and engineering, DIDD, has been registered as a member of the Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe (CLAIRE)

In December 2018, our department was registered as a member of the Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe (CLAIRE). You can find more information at https://claire-ai.org/. As such, we are committed to work with the European Commission and our national government to strengthen European excellence in human-centred AI.

As a member of the CLAIRE we also have the opportunity to read the draft guidelines and to provide feedback to the European Commission via its European AI Alliance platform.

The European Commission’s High-Level Expert group on AI (HLEG-AI), on which CLAIRE has 8 representatives (out of 19 academic members), has recently released its first draft ethics guidelines for trustworthy artificial intelligence (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/have-your-say-european-expert-group-seeks-feedback-draft-ethics-guidelines-trustworthy) and is seeking feedback from the community.
